Design assignment for fashion brand Samuji

I had the opportunity to design individual tables for Samuji's store in Helsinki. Samuji is a Helsinki-based design studio founded in 2009. Their ambition is to produce sustainable and interesting design with high standards. Samuji's Head of Design is Finnish fashion designer Anne-Mari Pahkala. You can find their selection at the online store at Samuji.com and at Samuji shop on Liisankatu 17, Helsinki.

The tables are designed with respect for the company's values and to match the image of the brand. I wanted to bring timelessness, softness and airiness to the design language, themes that are also characteristic of my production.

Clear glass pieces are embedded in the sand-colored concrete of the table tops, with occasional loose white lines. Glass pieces are waste glass created in the manufacturing process of my art glass objects. The lines in the glass pieces come from the filigree pattern that I use in my works, when broken into small pieces have been given a new life as part of Samuji's story.

The tables are made to order and are available in different colors and with different recycled glass chips. If you are interested, we will gladly design unique surfaces or tables for personal or professional needs.

“The core of Remes’ works is a clear form combined with a delicate, painting-like line. During her more than ten-year career, she has familiarized herself with and used a wide range of different glass techniques, thus achieving a distinctive and recognizable signature in the Finnish art glass field. Her work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions both in Finland and in Europe.”
